ARON LEAMAN
CREATING ART FOR PLEASURE
It's hard for Aron Leaman to remember life before creating glass art. Having his official start in 2001, Aron has spent the last two decades honing his craft to be what it is today. Citing his travels and collaborations with fellow glass artists, Aron feels that he has found his footing and his unique, personal style with his glass sculptures. To sum up his work in one word, "joyful" feels the most suitable.
To experience Aron's work in person is to feel the leftover joy that he instilled into each piece during the creative process. This is no accident, Aron feels that this is his mission as an artist; spreading joy and making viewers smile. However, there is no shortage of sophistication within the charm and playfulness of his work. Having a hefty portfolio comprised of abstract, bird, and vase vessels, Aron is always keeping things fresh and looking to improve his skill set.
"Working with glass there is endless potential for improvement keeping it forever rewarding."
- Aron Leaman
Aron's bird sculptures are a beautiful representation of harmony in 3-D art. Raw and rough stone bases serve as the heavy anchor for the feathery grace of his glass birds. The balance between these seemingly opposing elements is an absolute pleasure to consume visually. The delicate nature of the slender and graceful birds is emphasized by the presence of such an organic and coarse foundation.
The way that Aron approaches color is particularly sublime. There are two viewing experiences available for each of his works of art. From afar, color seems to be fluid within the glass. In fact, it's hard to distinguish between the color and the glass. Aron has such a natural approach to his creations that an impressive level of seamlessness is achieved. When examining his work up close, you realize that there is a series of bands that dance across the glass like streams of pigment. This is both a surprise and a deeper look into Aron's process. The fluid movements of these bands is the final warm reminder of how much fun the artist had while creating the artwork in front of you.
Aron aims to strike a particular balance of being a true craftsman at heart, while maintaining the message of positivity and happiness in his art. Each of these virtues are the pillars that uphold his artistic mission.
