Though classically trained, Kim Schuessler digs deep into her Georgia roots for her art. Consequently the feel of her work is more akin to folk or naïve art.

She looks to everyday objects for her images, mixing barefoot girls with flowers and fruit and other common sights. With a deft palette and a keen eye for patterns that tie it all together, a typical Schuessler painting ends up being a montage of various simplicities.

"Commonplace items portrayed in a new way brings amusement as well as awe,"
says Schuessler. "They are a vision of a simpler, brighter world that exists in our imagination."
